Carole Fink-m

CAROLE FINK – Program Coordinator

Carole has been coaching gymnastics for over 30 years. She came to Roseville Gymnastics in 1990, taking the position of Program Coordinator and Team Head Coach. Her favorite part of coaching is challenging kids to push themselves, and seeing the self--‐confidence that this brings.

Carole started gymnastics at age 12, competing for the Brooklyn Center Parks and Recreation program. Not long after being introduced to the sport, she began training at Johnathan’s Gymnastics and competing for her junior high and then senior high school teams.

Carole continued with gymnastics through college, competing for Winona State University. Carole is a 1978 graduate of Park Center High School. She participated in gymnastics, track, volleyball, and tennis. In 1983, she graduated from Winona State University with a BS in Math Education and Physical Education.

Carole is married to Jeff, who is the Activities Director at St. Francis High School. Her hobbies include traveling, boating, water skiing, biking and spending time with friends and family.

 

Erin Sawtell-m

ERIN SAWTELL

Erin has been coaching gymnastics for 10 years, and joined the Roseville Staff in 2005. She began her gymnastics career at Midwest Gymnastics, competing on their team for 7 years.

While in high school, Erin competed for the Moundsview High School team, until graduating in 2000. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Kinesiology degree. Currently Erin is working as an underwriter at Evergreen Re.

Erin enjoys running and spending time with family, husband Luke and son Carter.

 

Kristy Petersen-m

KRISTY PETERSEN

Kristy has been involved in the Roseville Gymnastics program since she was 3. She was a team member for 10 years, competing in Levels 5--‐8. In 1998, Kristy was voted Roseville’s “Rookie of the Year” and in 2004 she was voted “Most Team Spirit”. She was also a member of the 2002 and 2003 Level 8 State Championship teams. Kristy graduated from Roseville Area High School in 2006. She competed for her high school team her senior year, and was a team member of the 2006 MSHSL state championship team. Kristy also was a member of Roseville’s True Track Team, where she pole vaulted, triple jumped and ran relays. Kristy graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2010 with a major in Physiology and Spanish.

Kristy began coaching at Roseville in 2004, and has coached the preschool, instructional and team level gymnasts. She enjoys traveling, going to her families cabin, attending sporting events and spending time with family and friends.



 

Stephanie Gerster-m

STEPHANIE GERSTER

Stephanie started gymnastics at age 8 at Crowley’s Gymnastics where she competed through 9th grade. She then competed for Woodbury High School until graduation in 1985. She began coaching in 1993. In 1999, Stephanie quit coaching but stayed active in gymnastics by becoming a judge. She is now rated as a Level 9 judge, and is working towards a Level 10 rating. Stephanie joined the Roseville Gymnastics staff in 2005, and has been excited to use both her coaching and judging skills in working with the team.

Stephanie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990 from the School of Associated Arts (now the College of Visual Arts). She works as an account supervisor for Ultra Creative in Minneapolis, creating fun and exciting new designs for General Mills products. She lives in Minneapolis with her dog Riley. Her hobbies include taking walks around the lake, gardening and attempting to lower her golf score.

 

Stephanie Ptak-m

STEPHANIE PTAK

Stephanie began gymnastics at age 4, and competed for the Roseville Gymnastics team through her senior year. She was a team member for 11 years, competing in Levels 5--‐10. In 1995 Steph was voted Roseville’s “Rookie of the Year”, and in 1998 was voted “Most Improved”. She was a state qualifier at every level, and a four time regional qualifier. She was also the 2003 Level 9 State Champion on beam. Steph graduated from St. Anthony High School in 2004. She then went on to compete for the University of Wisconsin--‐La Crosse from 2004--‐2006.

Stephanie graduated from UW--‐La Crosse in 2008, majoring in Exercise and Sport Science and Spanish. She is now a graduate student at the University of Minnesota working towards a Master's of Public Health in Community Health Education.

Stephanie has been coaching at Roseville for 3 years. She enjoys traveling, yoga, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Christy Hammond-m

CHRISTY HAMMOND

Christy has been involved in gymnastics for most of her life. She was in the team program for 6 years, competing in Levels 5--‐9. Christy was a member of the 1999 (Level 5), 2000 (Level 6), 2002 (Level 8) State Championship teams. She was also a Level 6 & 7 state champion on the bars, and a Level 8 vault and all--‐around state champion. As a Level 8 and 9, Christy qualified for the Regional Championships 3 times.

Christy graduated from Roseville Area High School in 2009. She competed for the Roseville High School team, and was a team member of the 2007, 2008, and 2009 MSHSL State Championship teams. She also qualified to state as an individual all three seasons, placing 2nd on vault in 2007, and 2nd on bars, 3rd on floor and 2nd All--‐Around in 2009.

Christy began coaching in 2010, and has worked with the instructional, Dyno’s and team gymnasts. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

 

Brian Girard-m

BRIAN GIRARD

Brian joined the coaching staff at Roseville in January, 2011. He grew up in Onamia, Minnesota, and became interested in gymnastics at age 7. Brian trained at St. Cloud Twisters and Twin City Twisters in Champlin. In 2007, Brain graduated from Onamia High School.

Brian attended the University of Minnesota, and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Physiology and Spanish. He is still participating in gymnastics, competing for the club team at the U of MN. Brian is also currently working in a cancer research lab.

Brian’s hobbies include playing the piano, beach volleyball, traveling and spending time on the lake.
